BookShark

Contact: Lynn Woodley, Product Expert / Charter School Liaison, 720-215-6064, [email protected]

BookShark is a complete, literature-based homeschool curriculum developed for students from pre-k through high school. Our curriculum uses a variety of educational resources including literary fiction and nonfiction, biographies, illustrations, and hands-on experiments to deliver an engaging and complete education that extends beyond textbook memorization.

BookShark combines a proprietary History, Science, and Language Arts program with a range of math options, including Math-U-See, Saxon, Singapore, and RightStart, to ensure you have everything you need for an entire school year. We use levels based on age ranges instead of a rigid grade system because kids mature at different rates.

New this year - BookShark Virtual! Children continue to learn History and Science by reading real books, but take their assessments online. BookShark Virtual Science follows NGSS Standards. Each level includes four to eight books, experiment kit, and a full color experiment/lab book. Mah programs can be packaged with BookShark Virtual All-Subject packages with a 20% discount. Note: Math programs are offered in their traditional format and not integrated into BookShark’s Virtual platform but can have a shell for work to upload for teacher access.

Today’s students are faced with a growing number of challenges including trauma, diversity, virtual learning, social justice, inequities, COVID-19 and the list goes on. There has never been a more critical time to focus on SEL and draw out the greatness in all students. We believe, “if you have a child’s heart, you have a child’s mind.” It is imperative to create environments of safety and trust whereby every student, no matter their diversity, is connected and engaged in a process that will help them succeed.

For the past 30 years, the Capturing Kids’ Hearts® team at Flippen Grouphas worked with hundreds of thousands of educators to model and apply Capturing Kids’ Hearts® processes in their classrooms, on their campuses, with their teams, and in their communities. These processes strengthen trust between teachers and students, support trauma-informed care, lead to self-governing classrooms, enable student connectedness, change school cultures, and create accountability.

Campuses that implement these processes with fidelity see improvements in attendance, climate and culture, and overall academic performance, along with advancements in each of the 5 SEL (Social Emotional Learning) Competencies: relationship skills, self-awareness, responsible decision making, social awareness, and self-management.

Waterford.org is a research based non-profit organization that focuses on early reading, math, and science instruction as well as social emotional learning for our youngest learners (prek - 3rd grade). We also have an independent reading program for 3rd - 6th graders. As a nonprofit, Waterford is uniquely focused on providing accessibility, equity and excellence for our youngest learners to position them for a lifetime of learning and success. The Waterford reading academy has proven to provide 1.5 years growth in 1 year with as little at 15-30 minutes per day. Whether working from home, a brick and mortar setting, or a combination of both, Waterford can make sure that our youngest students learn to read and then read to learn.
